Capcom wants to know if you want a Resident Evil 2 remake
Capcom understands that, it seems, as they recently took to the Resident Evil Facebook page to voice these concerns and ask for honest opinions about a remake.
This is Capcom R&D Division 1! Capcom’s decision to engage the fans comes following the unveiling of a fan made remake of the game, popular demand for the fans along with the upcoming release of Resident Evil Zero HD and the success of Resident Evil HD Remastered.
Enthusiasm for a Resident Evil 2 Remake is something we’ve been hearing from you over the years, and has drawn some recent attention in the media. The new trademark was first registered on July 7 with Europe’s Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market under the name Umbrella Corps – without the Resident Evil brand.
Capcom has just filed for a new trademark in its native Japan for something called Biohazard Umbrella Corps, leading many to believe that the next Resident Evil survival horror game might sport this subtitle.
Truly, though, I’d love to see them do a full remake of the game with new textures, modern controls and maybe even a bit of extra content. But they must keep certain things old school, like those damn typewriter save points and the limited healing items.
One obvious solution is that they buy out the fan remake and make it official, but that would be a very unusual step for any company, especially a Japanese one. If you wish to express your opinion on the matter of a Resident Evil 2 Remake, you can do so over here.
