‘Game of Thrones’ to get fan convention
For instance, during the week of June 13-19, 2016, Game of Thrones was the most-watched show on cable, with 7.6 million viewers.
Since Game of Thrones’ last episodes are yet to be written, this could be a move by the show’s producers to ensure key cast members are on board for the final seasons – with the fates of their characters still undecided.
They are getting hefty pay rises from next season, though with no guarantee their characters will survive, according to a USA report.
Lead stars including Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) have reportedly signed new deals that will give them hefty pay raises for future seasons. They’ll each earn upward of $500,000 per episode of season seven, which has already been announced, and in the likely eighth season (which is all but a formality).
HBO has no comment but the rumor is the new contracts don’t guarantee that all the characters will survive through the end of the series.
But as filming continued, it became clear that even this wouldn’t be quite long enough, the planned sequence would have taken too long so Sapochnik contacted writers David Benioff and Dan Weiss to discuss an alternative.
Also unclear are just how many episodes seasons seven and eight will consist of.
We also saw a tiny little smile appear on Sansa Stark’s face – which you might have missed, but it was definitely there. Petyr Baelish seems to teleport by his own laws of time, space, and plot convenience, while Daenerys has been theoretically trying to get to Westeros for six seasons.
