Hackney residents cast their votes in EU Referendum

The hashtag #DogsAtPollingStations is now trending nationwide, with adorable pictures of cute canines showing their democratic side by accompanying their owners along to cast their vote on whether Britain should leave the European Union or remain.

Kent’s voters take to the polls today for the European Union referendum – and you can find out all the results right here when they come in tomorrow morning.

A record 46.5 million United Kingdom citizens are registered to vote, with a string of opinion polls giving neither side a firm lead.

Brits up and down the country are casting their votes to decide whether or not the United Kingdom should remain in the EU.

Councillors held a debate at the civic offices at the last full council meeting about the impact the vote would have on the borough.

Each will return a vote for Leave or Remain, with the results then being sent to create a south east result.

Top politicians urged everyone to take part in the referendum, describing it as a critical moment in the nation’s history.

If there is a clear majority for one side, it is expected the overall result will be announced around 6am tomorrow.
