UVa’s Brogdon to Bucks in Round 2
Maker will be expected to earn more than Dollars $3 million per season once he signs his rookie contract.
Jason Kidd, though, is going in his own direction.
Maker was the bolter in this year’s draft, being selected much earlier than many experts predicted in the lead-up to the event. “We can do that tonight because we know that Thon has a chance to be a very special player”.
ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (AP) – The Milwaukee Bucks got two important pieces for the future in Thon Maker and Malcolm Brogdon, whose paths to the National Basketball Association were decidedly different.
They went with a young big man to join young cornerstone forwards Jabari Parker and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Brogdon made a decision to stay home in Georgia with family to watch the draft, being calm and humble for whatever course he would take.
Maker’s family wasn’t able to fly to the USA for the event but he said he was indebted for their support.
“Obviously, joining with the rest of the guys that already have that length”, said Maker, “it’s going to be scary”. He has entered the NBA Draft with a lot of hype, but some teams are completely erasing him from the first round.
Maker worked with Smith at his academy in Sydney before moving to the United States, but eventually the basketball journey led him to the Toronto area.
However, Maker produced documentation that showed that he had completed his high-school education in 2015. The Sudanese-Australian – as if that weren’t enough – attended high school in Canada at an Ontario prep academy.
On Thursday, Hammond wasn’t fazed by social media-fueled rumors questioning Maker’s age.
If he’s 19, he’s also nowhere near his physical prime.
Brogdon said he thinks the Bucks are a great fit for him. He was named Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year. However, he’s as solid a player as they come, with a pretty complete overall game on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.
In the second round, the Bucks took Malcolm Brogdon with the 36th overall selection from Virginia.
