Kings draft Kentucky’s Skal Labissiere via Suns in 2016
After going big with the No. 13 and long with the No. 22, the Kings went big and long at No. 28, selecting Haitian big man Skal Labissiere.
“It was another nerve-wracking night waiting for draft picks to be made”, Coach Cal said. He played high school basketball in the United States at Westtown School in West Chester, Penn., in 2013-14, before returning to Greece. However, he posted 1.6 blocks per game in that allotment while turning in fairly respectable percentages of 51.6 percent from the field and 66.1 percent from the line.
Despite the struggles, Labissiere said the decision to enter the draft was not a hard one because of his long-held dream to play in the National Basketball Association.
Ex-Indiana guards Yogi Ferrell and Troy Williams may also be taken late in the second round, one mock draft has Williams going to Indiana at pick #50. There, the 2016 SEC player and defensive player of the year will join fellow former Kentucky guards Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Knight, Archie Goodwin and Devin Booker.
Currently, the Wildcats could have three players drafted, a far cry from their six in last year’s draft. I’m a 6-11 guy that can run the floor, shoot it really well, put it on the floor, be very versatile on defense. I want all of my guys to be drafted in the top 10 picks, and when they’re not I’m disappointed.
He’s a quick leaper and has excellent timing on the defensive end as shot blocker, but could be a more effective rim protector as a weakside defender as he adjusts to the size and speed of the league. “But he didn’t do it in games, and he got pushed around by guys that got pushed around by other people”.
Have you seen these awesome sports items? I think Orlando is a good landing spot for him. Unless the Suns move someone, there’s too much in their backcourt for Ulis to have a big role with them.
I still can’t believe the Kings will be bringing in three rookies (and maybe four if they sign the 59th pick to a contract) to the team next year.
