Authorities search for suspect in police officer’s shooting
A commuter train line that uses the same tracks was also affected.
The audio, obtained by NBC news, reveals the chaotic moments after 25-year-old Folcroft officer Christopher Dorman was shot responding to a call shortly before 10 a.m.
Folcroft borough officials confirm an officer was shot but say they can not comment on the officer’s condition. TV stations were reporting he was in critical condition. I looked out my windows and see police with sniper rifles running around’.
The Folcroft Borough officer was transported from Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital to Penn Presbyterian Hospital’s trauma center in West Philly. That search included areas along the nearby train tracks. He says about 500 people are on the Acela and Northeast Regional trains.
Amtrak officials said it is unclear how long trains will remain holding, but said they are coordinating with local authorities to reopen the railroad “as quickly and safely as possible”. The shooting scene is a short distance from the Folcroft police station.
No further details were immediately available.
Public officials were quick to offer support to the wounded officer Friday morning on social media.
The suspect who shot the officer is still on the loose. “Please keep his family in your prayers”.
