Bernie Sanders Says He’ll Vote for Hillary Clinton
When asked the much anticipated question, “Are you going to vote for Hillary Clinton in November?” on MSNBC, Bernie Sanders answered “yes”-to the potential devastation of his “Bernie or Bust” fan base”.
Voters like Armes, who says she’ll “definitely” vote in November, highlight the difficulty Clinton faces in unifying her party.
“It would be a bad mistake for her to go to a candidate who has roots from Wall Street or has been backed by Wall Street”, underlined Sanders, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, who campaigns against the excesses of large corporations. “Of course we have to defeat him, and I intend to do everything I can if I have to run all over this country to do it”, Sanders said.
Sen Sanders, a self-described Democratic socialist, managed to turn his long-shot run into a mass movement with proposals to combat wealth inequality, increase access to health care and education, and defend the environment. While Sanders had said he would work with Clinton to defeat Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, he had yet to endorse Clinton and has kept his own election campaign alive.
The Vermont senator further dismissed the notion of exiting the Democratic race, stressing that he wants to ensure the strongest platform for the party and to “reinvigorate the Democratic Party, bring new people in and have a party that represents working people”. He said that the next day in Syracuse, he was going to campaign for “a guy who is running for the United States Congress” and later in California for a “woman running for the state Senate”.
“It’s not the fault of the Bernie Sanders supporters”, Winnett claimed. Instead of criticizing Clinton’s refusal to support a ban on hydraulic fracturing, Sanders said “Yesterday, we should have banned fracking – and we damn well should do it tomorrow”.
Mr Sanders has said repeatedly since the final primary on June 14 that he will not end his presidential campaign until the Democratic convention in Philadelphia.
Bernie Sanders is on a NY tour that will bring him to the state capital on Friday, and the Democratic presidential candidate is vowing to keep pressure on his party to enact policy reforms.
Also Wednesday, Sanders announced he will give a speech in NY on Thursday on “where we go from here”.
Clinton earlier this month clinched the delegates required to carry the Democrats’ banner against Trump.
Sanders has previously vowed to fight for the nomination at the convention, but in an interview with C-Span on Wednesday he acknowledged it was not likely he could capture the nomination.
