Obama: Entrepreneurship breeds success, prosperity
President Obama will headline the 7th annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit at Stanford on Friday.
“The opportunity to learn from the leading entrepreneurs of the world is one that I never could have imagined”, said Aguilar in a press release.
(President Obama) “I do think that yesterday’s vote speaks to the ongoing changes and challenges that are raised by globalization, but while the UK’s relationship with the European Union will change, one thing that will not change is the special relationship that exists between our two nations”.
Known as the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, the event is held annually at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. GES is a reflection of the President’s commitment to utilize entrepreneurship as a foundational tool to build more economically prosperous, secure, and globally connected communities around the world.
They will be joining more than 700 entrepreneurs from around the world along with investors, speakers and leaders in the entrepreneurship space.
The first summit was in Washington D.C.so they thought it would be good to bring it back to the United States and Silicon Valley, allowing entrepreneurs to interact with venture capitalists and CEOs in the hub of innovation.

The light repartee, which prompted chuckles in the packed auditorium, came as the Obama pushes entrepreneurship as an engine of job growth and equality. Zuckerberg Talks About FB Start Program He also talked about the company’s startup program, FB Start.
Obama said his administration is trying to help people take risks by simplifying the process for starting companies and equipping scientists and engineers with entrepreneurial skills.
During a panel discussion with the Facebook founder and three other entrepreneurs, the president recounted how “a bunch of 20-year-olds” helped adapt his campaign to new technologies. “And if I had tried to maintain control and said, ‘No, we’re going with pamphlets because I’m used to pamphlets and I can control what’s in the pamphlets, ‘ I might not be sitting here”, Obama said.
“There’s a cultural shift that’s sometimes hard”, said Obama. These conversations were followed by a panel conversation, moderated by Chamath Palihapitiya, founder and CEO of Social Capital, of past GES participants sharing their success stories.
And he met with Google CEO Sundar Pichai and AOL co-founder Steve Case – both of whom also spoke at the summit.
