Ferrari 488 Spider revealed. Debut at Frankfurt Motor Show
For this reason we at Limo Broker were extremely thrilled to see images released of the new Ferrari 448 Spider, the convertible version of the Ferrari 488 GTB released in February.
The 488 Spider drop-top has a maximum power output of 670 CV combined with maximum torque of 760 Nm at 3000 rpm send the 488 Spider sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds flat and from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.7 seconds.
Despite this performance, the turbo it is not only 100hp more powerful than the previous naturally-aspirated V8 but also has lower Carbon dioxide emissions.
Ferrari has used aluminum extensively in the body work of the new convertible to help reduce weight, however the extra equipment required for the folding metal hard-top roof makes it 50kg heavier than its coupe sibling at 1525kg.
Ferrari was the first manufacturer to introduce the retractable hard top on a auto of this particular architecture. As it did with the 488 coupe, Maranello has simultaneously optimized downforce while trimming unwanted drag by using aerodynamic solutions including a blown spoiler and underbody vortex generators. The Spider wears a set of flying buttresses that serve to channel airflow through to the ribbed engine cover, while the three-position electric glass wind stop adjusts to increase driver and passenger comfort when the top is down.
To make its dynamic behaviour even more engaging, the development team honed the car’s mechanical set-up in tandem with its electronic systems which are now fully integrated with the SSC2 Side Slip Angle Control System, resulting in 12% faster acceleration out of corners than the 458 Spider.
Under its revised engine cover, the 488 Spider shares the GTB’s mid-rear turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine.
However, Ferrari has eased the minds of sceptics by increasing power.
It also features Ferrari’s Retractable Hard Top which claims to be lighter by 25kgs than a traditional fabric soft-top.
However, the prices for the new Ferrari 488 Spider will be confirmed only at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but reports say that it will be available in the worldwide market for a price of Rs 2.04 crore.
