Bernie Sanders says he will vote for Hillary Clinton
The senator repeatedly said that no matter what, he would work to defeat Republican candidate Donald Trump.
Mr Sanders said he now recognised his opponent was in a winning position, having secured more delegates during the months-long state by state primary race.
His unexpectedly enduring campaign was characterised by rallies that attracted thousands of mostly young supporters. “A platform is a piece of paper; it doesn’t mean anything”. “Those are the issues that we need to have not only in a platform, but we need Democratic leadership to be implemented”. Speaking to supporters in NY the same day, he vowed to press on with his campaign.
The panel also rejected amendments suggested by 350.org co-founder Bill McKibben, another Sanders pick, that would have imposed a carbon tax, declared a national moratorium on fracking as well as new fossil fuel drilling leases on federal lands and waters.
In a statement, the no-shows said they preferred to allow Sanders to hammer out with Clinton any agreement on how the convention will proceed. But in his speech in Albany, he offered no signs of embracing her candidacy.
The Vermont senator lost to Hillary Clinton 58 percent to 42 percent in NY.
Clinton has consistently urged a gradual approach to these issues – calling for the death penalty to be imposed exclusively by the federal government and only rarely, for example – while Sanders has pushed for a “political revolution”.
In yet another appearance Friday morning, Sanders discussed Clinton on CBS This Morning.
Beck states that grounds for the lawsuit are rooted in the DNC charter and bylaws, specifically Article 5, Section 4, where it explicitly states the party’s chair is to remain impartial during the primary election and can not actively campaign or promote a specific candidate. He had said in a November debate of the current $7.25 federal wage, “I hate to say it, but we have to leave it the way it is”. “We have to break that down”.
“When I look around and see the t-shirts, I tell you it’s not Bernie”. It’s you. Bernie can’t do it alone. “We cannot ignore the reality of so many people in this country who have been hurt by the global economy”. His announcement appears to not be an official endorsement of Clinton but an attack against GOP nominee Donald Trump.
“Yes”, he said about voting for Clinton.
Mr Sanders has said he is still in the race because he wants to exert influence on Clinton and push her policy positions more to the left. “I talk about involving the American people in the political process”.
“What we are trying to do also is come up with the most progressive platform that the Democrats have ever had, ” Sanders said, adding he wants a party platform that is more than “just words”, but also a presidential and congressional agenda for Democrats. “I would hope that would happen, or it may not happen”, he said.
