Trump plays down post-Brexit market turmoil on Aberdeen visit

Trump’s comments upon arriving at his remodeled Turnberry golf course in Scotland provided Clinton another opportunity to underscore her pitch. They took their country back, just like we will take America back.

Citing a New York Times report, the Trump campaign alleged that as early as 2008, Indian politician Amar Singh had donated between Dollars 1,000,001 and USD 5,000,000 to the Clinton Foundation.

Trump’s former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, said on CNN this week that there were “no more than four” names on the short-list.

Some Scots who are Turnberry members and who sat in the front row at Trump’s news conference muttered “no” whenever the subject of Scotland leaving the European Union came up. In fact, Scotland, which voted against independence in 2014, may now hold another referendum on independence in hopes of staying in the EU. Trump said he would support Scottish independence if a vote were held.

“There’s always turmoil no matter where you go, no matter what you do”, he said.

“He’s not concerned with foreign policy, he’s not concerned with the American people”, said Clinton adviser Jake Sullivan. “He is concerned with himself and that’s it”.

Fifty-two percent of British voters moved to withdraw from the 27-nation European bloc, despite dire warnings from Prime Minister David Cameron and other top officials about calamitous economic consequences.

Cameron wanted Britain to stay in the European Union and announced Friday that he would step down.

He also spoke about his election bid saying:”Let me tell you how it’s going to play out, Trump will win and the world will be a happy place”.

Asked about the protesters, Trump compared them to rival candidates for the Republican nomination who he had defeated, such as Senator Ted Cruz. “He’s constantly dictating what the world should do”, he said. Americans will have a chance to vote for trade, immigration and foreign policies that put our citizens first. This time of uncertainty only underscores the need for calm, steady, experienced leadership in the White House to protect Americans’ pocketbooks and livelihoods, to support our friends and allies, to stand up to our adversaries, and to defend our interests. Trump spent Friday morning marking the $200 million-plus rehabilitation of Turnberry on the rocky Atlantic coast.

Democrats and Republicans both took stock of a decision that seemed to indicate Trump’s campaign had tapped into a global wave that might be hard to contain.

Several dozen protesters demonstrated outside the resort but were kept at a distance from the candidate and the course.
