Boy, 6, playing with gun fatally shoots 4-year-old brother
Shortly before 11 a.m., East Orange police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Norman Street in East Orange.
Police are investigating how he got ahold of his mother’s gun.
At this point, the shooting appears to be accidental, according to Fennelly. Authorities have arrested Itiyanah Spruill, age 22 with endangerment welfare of a child and unlawful possession of weapon violation in related to her son’s death.
The boy is listed in serious condition at University Hospital in Newark, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.
