Google Branded Android Smartphone Price and Release Date
The company is now in discussions with operators around the world concerning the launch of a Google-branded phone, with a release date set for later this year, sources told The Telegraph. The new move by the company in order to manufacture self-branded smart handsets may also turn the Nexus platform inappropriate for OEMs. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and other competitors lucrative high-end smartphone market.
The new Google-made smartphone is speculated to release by the end of this year and is said to demonstrate the company’s tighter control over its hardware, software and services.
Google is reportedly trying to address the fragmented mess that Android has become across phone makers and carriers, and take back some control over the platform.
Apple exercises much tighter control over the hardware and software, and as a result, almost 90% of iPhone users are on the latest version of iOS.
But whether or not Google will introduce a new handset later this year, the company does not seem to be planning on discontinuing the Nexus line anytime soon.
Google can get more control over the Android OS and its looks, functions, and feel. Google is also in discussions with mobile operators about the release of the phone. At the moment, Google has the Android operating system, the most widely used operating system on smartphones.
Now, according to a report by The Telegraph, Google plans to completely take over the reins and build its own phone from scratch. However, when it comes to the actual hardware, Google has next to nothing to offer so far. It leaves the manufacturing of the hardware to other companies such as Samsung, with the company concentrating more on developing the software (operating system) for their smartphones.
Sources go on to claim Sundar Pichai’s company will release a phone later this year.
