StubHub to resell New York Yankees tickets, replacing Ticketmaster
The New York Yankees are moving their ticket resale business, branded Yankees Ticket Exchange, from Ticketmaster to StubHub, ESPN.com’s Darren Rovell reports. As part of the deal, the company has agreed not to sell Yankee tickets for less than half their value in a full-season plan. The new pact will come in effect post the “All Star” break, Bloomberg reported on Monday.
The ticket resale service through StubHub will be fully operational on July 7 for the Yankees’ July 15 game and will be available for the rest of the season all through mobile-only.
Under its new Yankees deal, StubHub will be able to advertising inside the stadium, the person said.
The feud reignited this winter when the Yankees revealed that they would eliminate print-at-home tickets in favor of digital tickets on mobile devices.
Devin Wenig, CEO of StubHub’s parent company eBay, confirmed StubHub’s partnership with the Yankees.
The deal will also implement innovative features that will considerably heighten the customer experience which could lead to increased user efficiency and protection. The Yankees complained that StubHub resold tickets too cheaply, since it did not have a floor on pricing. Ticketmaster will still remain the primary ticket vendor for the Yankees. “We are confident this collaboration will best protect our fans in the ticket resale marketplace”.
Anthony Beyrouti, founder & CEO of VenueKings, one of North America’s largest ticket re-selling brokerages, talked to FOX Sports about what the deal means for fans.

This greed has kept fans that stand up and cheer with two outs and two strikes on an opposing batter while craving that third called strike in the beginning portion of the game out of the stadium.
But the Mets still trail the Yankees in average attendance.
After years of tension and acrimony, the Yankees and StubHub have kissed and made up.
