Motorola touts ‘universally unlocked’ Moto G phones in U.S.
Motorola announced three versions of the Moto G4 originally, but it sounds like only the G4 and G4 Plus will be coming to the U.S. next month (the G4 Play is a cheaper version of the device).
While the Moto G lineup was once seen as a “mid-range” smartphone, it’s quite clear that the device is now a bit more high-end, at least this year.
If you are interested in the Moto G4 Plus it starts at $249 with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage.

If you point your browser to Motorola’s website, you can now use Moto Maker to customize and pre-order either a Moto G4 or a Moto G4 Plus. The G4 Plus also offers a 16-megapixel rear camera, which is slightly higher-resolution than the G4’s 13-megapixel, and the G4 Plus’s camera also boasts laser autofocus and phase detect autofocus features. For example, the Moto G4 Plus has a fingerprint reader on its face that the Moto G4 lacks. Both smartphones are available for pre-order today from Motorola.com, and will be available from a wide range of retailers including Amazon, B&H Photo, and Best Buy starting on July 12. Oh, and both phones will be sold by Republic Wireless too, but starting on July 28.
When the phones were announced in India, Motorola said they’ll be available with Snapdragon 617 processors, 5.5-inch 1080p displays, 2GB to 4GB of RAM, 5MP front-facing cameras and storage options ranging from 16GB to 64GB.
According to Motorola’s site, the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus will work on any major U.S. carrier, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon.
