Young girl’s decomposed body found in crib; father arrested
A cable worker installing new Internet service found the body of a baby inside of a Medina apartment complex on Reagan Parkway Wednesday morning.
The “badly decomposed” body of a young child was discovered Wednesday morning in a crib by a technician from Armstrong Cable and led to the arrest later in the day of Eric M. Warfel, 34, of Forest Meadows Apartments Homes in Medina.
Medina Police have identified the child as 1-year-old Ember Warfel. Police masking tape remnants round the kitchen door of the place. God established us all for romance. “This is absolutely tragic”.
He said his 11-year-old son was home when the body was found and is so traumatized that they are now planning to move. “We thought it was cooking, tried to deal with it with incense”.
The coroner at the scene estimates the Ember’s body had been there at least one month.
“Our spies traveled to Crocker Park and he appeared to be found distributing heroin at this time there whereas coming into his auto”.
Warfel’s daughter was interrogated before she was handed to her grandparents, Berarducci said. The Medina man remained jailed Thursday pending a court appearance on a felony corpse abuse charge.
“This is a very hard case from the emotions of everyone involved”, said Medina Police Chief Patrick Berarducci.
Investigators were assisted by officers from the Fairview Park Police Department, the Westlake Police Department and detectives from the New York City Police Department.
