Horizon: Zero Dawn’s Aloy is inspired by Ripley and Ygritte
I hope that these ladies were more than just the examples of strong female leads but that they actually inspired some of the character design. For instance, Samus Aran from the Metroid series, Jill Valentine from the Resident Evil franchise, and Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft are all indomitable and highly-distinguished protagonists.
Beyond that, on Tuesday, August 4, the studio will be part of a RocketBeansTV livestream where we’re expecting to at least learn a few more details about the game (via NeoGAF).
Horizon: Zero Dawn was first showcased at E3 2015 during Sony’s press conference.
That’s according to Game Director Mathijs de Jonge, who revealed in an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine (via Games Radar) that the creative team channeled the kick-ass spirits of Ellen Ripley, Sarah Connor and Game of Thrones’ flame-haired Wilding Ygritte during development. “That’s where we started”.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is a PS4 exclusive that will certainly ship consoles. Additionally, since the game features very big dino-bots with Terminator’s T-800 styled frameworks, Sarah Connor’s courage and fortitude comes through in Aloy, as well. And a strong, female lead character. Only when developer Guerilla Games begins to reveal more of the robot-dinosaur filled world they’ve created will players be able to see the character Aloy evolved into.
