#5. 2015-16 Golden State Warriors
There are a lot of players that the Warriors could target this offseason in free agency in order to make the necessary improvements to take the next step and get another title. “The time spent there has allowed me the platform to see the ingredients of winning and the importance of culture”.
Curry had a serious hold on the “best player in the world belt” and the tug-of-war between him and LeBron would be decided in this year’s Finals.
Starting with Messi, he is not only arguably the world’s best soccer player (a status more arguable in the wake of his continued failures to help Argentina win a major global tournament) but a prominent member of the Curry fan club.
The 76ers could offer Barnes as much as $90 million over 4-years and they’ve got to spend money to reach the NBA’s salary floor. Still, Ezeli’s health issues are a huge concern. Keeping him with that health risk is dicey, especially if he expects to receive the same price tag as other big men in the National Basketball Association with a similar playing style. What made them great over this two-year stretch was their versatility – they could go big and small, could play fast and slow, could win pretty or ugly. The Sixers can only sign Barnes to an offer sheet beginning July 8 (when the league’s annual moratorium on signings and trades is lifted), giving the Warriors three days to match the offer, or lose Barnes. According to ESPN, Draymond Green is willing to help recruit the Oklahoma City Thunder star if asked by the Warriors management. Players like Terry or Stoudemire might be interested. Since Barnes is a restricted free agent, the Warriors can match any offer Barnes gets. All they’d have to get a center is a trade exception worth just over $5 million, a $2.9 million “room exception” and minimum contracts. It’s entirely possible that he could go the LeBron James route and sign a 1+1 deal that allows him to re-enter the fray next year as a 10-year vet, which would allow him to get 35 percent of the cap on a max deal. This performance, which may have been caused by the pressure of the finals, may not sit well with other teams looking at the free agency.
Personally i have no idea what the Golden state Warriors think they can improve on after the season they had but getting Durant is not going to solve there problem that they lost in the seventh game of the finals while being up 3-1 that is unheard of.
Those free agents, though? Obviously, Kevin Durant is the main attraction.
