Aaron Cresswell signs contract extension
The defender has impressed in his two seasons at the East London club, after his move from Ipswich Town, winning Hammer of the Year in his debut season.
He becomes the second player in as many days to sign a new deal at West Ham, with team-mate Michail Antonio having also agreed to a 12-month extension on Monday.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic warned Liverpool off trying to sign the “improving” Cresswell back in April.
The “Insider” section of the club’s website revealed that Antonio is the first of two major first-team players signing new deals this week.
West Ham head into the game looking to kick start their pre-season preparations in the best possible way, following a number of weeks away from the pitch on the back of last season’s Premier League campaign.
He concluded “we’re looking forward to the new stadium” and the “first game with Juventus which is going to be a fantastic day.” .
Last September the Sunday Mirror reported that Cresswell, Leeds United’s Charlie Taylor and Charlton’s Morgan Fox were on Manchester United’s shortlist for the January transfer window.
West Ham United have tied down winger Michail Antonio, who has committed his future to the Hammers by signing a contract until 2020.
Cresswell, 26, has branded the extension “great news” as West Ham prepare to begin the new season at the Olympic Stadium.
