Documents: Homicide suspect struck officer, tried to take gun
Allen said that because you can see Robinson go for the gun, a prosecutor could possibly charge Robinson with attempted murder.
Cincinnati Police said Robinson was being processed in an interview room when he grabbed for an officer’s gun.
As Robinson and two officers struggled, he can be heard repeatedly yelling, “Kill Me, kill me”.
Robinson was booked for murdering 17-year-old Joseph Reno Armstrong Jr. on June 17.
Seconds later, Robinson made his move, briefly getting his hands on the weapon.
The fight lasted around 15 seconds before the officers forced him to the ground with a taser.
Robinson also reportedly faces charges of drug possession and having a weapon under disability. Police signed additional charges – assault and aggravated robbery – on Robison, the station said, adding that he was being held in jail on a $1.7 million bond.
While the cop is bent over next to Robinson, the suspect can be seen looking over to check whether the officer is wearing his sidearm.
He is now being held at the Hamilton County Jail on $1.7 million bond. Fraternal Order of Police President Sgt. Dan Hils says the video shows how quickly a routine situation can become a life-and-death struggle. Cincinnati Police Department Chief Eliot Isaac said, “Sometimes what appears to be the routine can turn into the most unsafe situation, and that is the dynamic about this profession”.
