What does Donald Trump have to say about ‘Texit?’
“I would limit specific terrorist countries and we know who those terrorist countries are”, Trump said, again not specifying which countries would be included.
The trip, which coincides with a shock vote by Britain to leave the European Union, stands in stark contrast to the welcome President Barack Obama received on a visit to Germany in 2008, when he was the presumptive Democratic nominee.
The visit to the resort in the village of Balmedie, north of the oil city of Aberdeen, came at the end of a two-day trip to Scotland, Trump’s first worldwide visit since he became the presumptive Republican nominee. Trump had previously called for deporting the approximately 11 million undocumented immigrants who are now living in the United States. “Americans are very much different”, he said. Nobody even knows who they are.
“Our priority now must be to protect American families and businesses from the negative effects of this kind of tumult and uncertainty”, Clinton said at the annual gathering of the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Indianapolis.
Clinton had supported the Remain camp leading up to the vote and afterward, in a statement, called for “steady, experienced leadership” in the wake of the referendum. I want people that have bad thoughts out. “But if it does plummet, I do well. I do well in any case”.
Donald Trump has said his ban on Muslims entering the United States would not apply to Muslims from Scotland. Additionally, it did not specify what “proven history of terrorism” consisted of. For the first time, he said that his proposed ban on Muslim entry applied only to those from “terror states”. Trump recognized the previous owners of the resort, “friends of mine from Dubai” who he said “didn’t understand this golf thing”.
Yet the parallels between the forces that drove the British vote and those at the core of Trump’s campaign are striking.
Staffers from BuzzFeed, The Washington Post and The Guardian tweeted about being blocked from attending Trump’s visit to his golf course in Aberdeen, Scotland.
The rising tide against immigration has Trumped integration (pun intended, of course). Riding on the slogan, “Make America Great Again” Trump’s theory of building a wall and banning Muslims sounds too similar for Americans to ignore. “But Donald Trump thinks about how his golf resort can profit from them”, intoned a new Clinton campaign advertisement.
“Texas will never do that, because Texas loves me”, he said, when asked how, as president, he would handle it if Texas tried to secede.
“I think there’s no question that he’s made a number of mistakes over the last few weeks”, Mitch McConnell, the Senate majority leader, told ABC News on Sunday. “Lets go to the 14th”.
Briefly marring the day for the Trump team were a handful of demonstrators who appeared on his property. -Mexican border, each flew a Mexican flag that could be easily spotted from the course’s clubhouse.
On the 18th hole, Trump had one final surprise to share.
Last night, he was due to have a private dinner with Rupert Murdoch and his wife Jerry Hall before flying back to NY.
Moments later, as promised, Murdoch materialized with his wife, Jerry Hall. Instead, reporters were loaded into maintenance carts and driven around the course, chasing after Trump, who was driving a golf cart and pointing out attractions along the way.
“Simply put, a Trump presidency is unthinkable.”
