Man stabbed in Santa Rosa movie theater
Officers from the Santa Rosa Police Department are now investigating the events and motive which led to a 21-year-old man being viciously stabbed while watching the new horror movie killer shark thriller, “The Shallows” on Wednesday. They also have not identified the young man who was stabbed.
“Out of nowhere, he came up from behind him, he stabbed him in the throat, in the arm, in the lung”, Sgt. Josh Ludtke said.
Within minutes of the first call, officers assigned to the Downtown Enforcement Team located the suspect in the Prince Memorial Greenway at A Street and took him into custody.
The attack on the victim is believed to be unprovoked, as the 21-year-old is now in the hospital in critical condition.
Lucero, who lives in Southern California, was watching the new film “The Shallows” at about 4 p.m. when Delonte Anthony Hart approached him from behind and stabbed him multiple times, police said.
The Santa Rosa Police Department Violent Crimes Investigations Detectives are investigating the assault. It appears Hart and Lucero did not know each other, police said. Tesfazgi was reportedly stabbed 50 times in the attack.
We can’t believe something like this happened, and we hope justice can be found and the victim can pull through! The suspect is described as a black man with a full beard and dreadlocks.
“Based on the randomness of the act, the brutality of the act, certainly he’s a person we’re looking into as a suspect”, Ludtke said.
The two-story movie theater’s entire upstairs was closed for the rest of the night on Wednesday so that police could collect evidence.
