Winter is ending? ‘Game of Thrones’ creators talk end of HBO drama
Game of Thrones co-creator David Benioff has revealed that they there will be two more seasons of the show.
The 69-minute episode “The Winds of Winter” which unraveled a massive explosion plotted by Cersei, also gave fans another clue about Jon Snow’s parentage.
Not only did Rhaegar Targaryen abduct Lyanna Stark, he also apparently impregnated her, and Jon Snow is their offspring.
Most Game of Thrones fans assumed that the revelation in the season 6 finale that Lyanna Stark was the mother of Jon Snow confirmed the long-held R + L = J theory. Because Lyanna was promised to Robert she had to keep her child with Rhaegar a secret. That something is this Gordian Knot of a family tree. We did, however, hear her beg Ned to protect the baby because “he” would kill him – presumably Robert Baratheon, who was on a Targaryen murder spree after Rhaegar abducted Lyanna – which implies that little Jon has Targaryen blood in him.
Jon Snow still doesn’t know his real name and his heritage. These include Game of Thrones veteran who’s returning to the show after directing major Hollywood films and one series newcomer. HBO confirmed as much in a Tuesday blog post detailing their relationship. A fan, however, was able to figure out the name through lip reading the scene involving the Young Ned Stark.
This is a theory based on knowledge of the entire “Game of Thrones” story, what we’ve seen on HBO and what we haven’t, and it would certainly further prove the legitimacy of Jon Snow’s lineage and his claim to the Iron Throne.
“Games of Thrones” only has two more series left. What do you guys think? If you’re all caught up, you know what I’m talking about. In the finale we saw Bran worg, travel back in time and see Ned comfort his sister right after she had given birth to Jon.
During Season 1, I always wondered why Ned let Jon take the black so easily.
