Cavs extend qualifying offer to guard Matthew Dellavedova
The free agency madness is officially underway. They’ve managed to keep their motives tight-lipped in the weeks leading up to today, and seems like they will stay that way.
Dellavedova would be penciled in as the backup point guard to Michael Carter-Williams. Those are two quality back ups that the Hawks missed out on, but were never really in the race to get.
As a result of the offensive system that the Bucks are trying to install, Matthew Dellavedova would be an ideal starting point guard for the team.
First, the Milwaukee Bucks landed their three-point shooting power forward in agreeing to a deal with Mirza Teletovic.
Dellavedova is a restricted free agent, so the Cavaliers will have the option to match the contract. Besides, it is time for the Cavs to move on from him. Otherwise, Dellavedova will be led next season by former Cal star and current Bucks coach Jason Kidd.
As a three-year college veteran, Felder was the only player to rank top five in points per game (24.4) and assists per game (9.3) in the country during his junior season. If Giannis Antetokounmpo is their primary ballhandler, then Dellavedova just needs to make open 3s, run secondary pick-and-rolls and use his endless energy to be a pest on defense.
Although the Bucks and Cavs are not rivals, despite being in the same division, Milwaukee has not backed down from Cleveland (especially since LeBron James returned).
He made 41 percent of those long-distance shots in 2015-16.
