He’s 31, not 21?! Canucks fans react to Loui Eriksson deal
Loui Eriksson is now officially a former member of the Boston Bruins.
Loui Eriksson is leaving Boston under far different circumstances than those that existed during his arrival.
Eriksson, 30, had 30 goals and 33 assists for the Boston Bruins in 2015-2016, the final year of a six-year-contract.
The Vancouver Canucks acquired one of the top free agents in the National Hockey League on Friday, signing Loui Eriksson to a six-year, $36 million contract. The club opted not to sign him to a new contract. He spent eight seasons with the Dallas Stars before that. There aren’t many wingers that can score 30 goals and excel on the power play and as a penalty killer; Eriksson does. Despite the adversity that he faced, including two concussions, Eriksson performed admirably with the Bruins in his three seasons.
Eriksson, who turns 31 later this month, should still have plenty of gas left for the Vancouver portion of his career.
The Canucks will bring in Eriksson’s drive and ability to finish, which coupled with the vision of the Sedin Twins, could be a lethal combination for Vancouver.
