Keralite schoolboy beaten to death by pan vendors in Delhi
Police said the body of Rajat Menon, a class 9 student at Salwan Public School, bore no signs of any external injury.
The murder and alleged police inaction triggered an outrage among the residents of Mayur Vihar.
Rajat, who is the son of Palakkad native Unnikrishnan, was found dead almost 500 meters away from his apartment in phase 3 of Mayur Vihar.
In another CCTV grab which emerged later, police found the two teenagers rushing Rajat to a hospital, the official had said.
The hospital staff apparently declined to handle the case, and closed circuit television pictures showed the men carrying the boy on their motorcycle to another hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Murder charges have been slapped on the accused.
However, parents and the advocate of the two juveniles denied that the two brothers had anything to do with the boy’s death. For that, we need to know if he died due to organ failure in the first place.
As it has been proved that Alok is an adult, he will be produced before the court.
The post-mortem report is expected to bring more clarity on the death.
According to the panel, police delayed action in the incident involving the death of 14-year old Rajat Menon in a scuffle with two paan kiosk owners in Delhi. They were approached by two boys and one of them could be seen hitting Rajat twice.
After the row, the friends allege, Rajat was attacked by the shopkeeper and some other men. The boy fell down unconscious after getting assaulted by the panwalla.
When his friends left the scene, the two juveniles first took Rajat to a private clinic where the doctors declared him dead and then to Metro hospital where again he could not be admitted. The accused called Rajat a liar and thrashed him brutally till he collapsed. “The paan masala sellers even had molested the local women but police did not register the case”, said a statement from the commission. Both his friends, including my son, panicked and tried to pour water on him. The boy was going with his friends on a bike. The mob also set the kiosk on fire.
