Labour leader Corbyn refuses to resign despite no-trust vote
The day after the demonstration, a motion of no confidence in Corbyn was passed by 172 Labour MPs voting in favour and 40 against, with 13 abstentions and four spoilt ballots.
Corbyn, however, has pointed to his backing among the party’s grassroots, insisting that the vote by MPs had “no constitutional legitimacy”.
But Corbyn retains support among many party members and registered supporters outside parliament and they help to elect any new leader.
It said filling dozens of vacancies with “inexperienced lightweights” was like “using a toothpick to prop up a collapsing skyscraper” and suggested Mr Corbyn’s attempts at ” clinging to power increasingly looks like an act of vanity”.

Angela Eagle has emerged as the likely challenger to the embattled leader and was the most senior member of the shadow cabinet to resign amid the chaos as scores of members of Mr Corbyn’s top team deserted him.

The inquiry carried out by former Liberty director Shami Chakrabarti found that the Labour Party “is not overrun by anti-Semitism, Islamophobia or other forms of racism”.
