Tigers place LHP Norris on disabled list with oblique strain
The Detroit Tigers are a team that could win 97 games if the ten losses against Cleveland didn’t count.
Power has shifted Quite simply, the Indians are just pounding the Tigers, something that probably still feels odd to Cleveland fans. A video replay appeared to show that the ball had hit off Cabrera’s leg.
Wednesday has a slate of day games that maybe beginning before you take your lunch break.
Indians starter Josh Tomlin, who had already beaten the Tigers three times this season, set the first nine men down in order and took a 2-0 lead into the fourth inning. “It doesn’t really matter”, manager Terry Francona said.
“Once we process yesterday we move on, let alone a month ago. If you do it good enough people start asking those kind of questions”.
Lonnie Chisenhall accounted for two hits and an RBI off Sanchez, before finishing the game 4 for 5 with two singles, two doubles and three RBIs.
“We’ve been focused against everybody, we’ve just had a little more success against them”, he said.
Detroit manager Brad Ausmus believes there’s a simple reason for his team’s problems against Cleveland.
“There’s nothing baffling”, Ausmus said. We’ve been on a pretty good run lately and there are two early games where I believe the underdogs are worth the risk to pick up some extra units.
Currently, Cabrera is the only Tiger to make the All Star team. Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler is part of the MLB All-Star Game Final Vote along with Rays third baseman Evan Longoria, Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia, Blue Jays outfielder Michael Saunders and Astros outfielder George Springer. The umpires briefly met and the out call stood.
In the eighth, Carlos Santana added a solo home run, his team-leading 19th of the season, which matches his 2015 home run total. Francisco Lindor leads all batters with 95 hits, 54 runs, 10 homers and 42 RBI. Second baseman Jason Kipnis fielded Jose Iglesias’ one-out grounder and threw to second for the force.
Twins 11, Athletics 4: Kennys Vargas, Max Kepler and Miguel Sano hit home runs, Tommy Milone beat his old team and Minnesota topped Oakland in a game that was delayed by a thunderstorm at the start by 2 hours and 42 minutes. Lindor also ended the sixth with a diving stop and throw to beat Justin Upton to first base, another in a long line of 2016 highlights.
Carrasco held Detroit to three hits and didn’t allow a run until the sixth inning.
Toronto’s R.A. Dickey (6-9) allowed two runs, none earned, and four hits in seven innings. Tests revealed that he suffered only a Grade 1 strain and is expected to miss 10 to 14 days, but he was the second Tigers starter to be placed on the DL within a 24-hour span; Jordan Zimmermann was placed on the DL on Monday with a right neck strain.
