Niger Delta Avengers confirm twitter account suspension
Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, shifted its hostilities from Delta State to Rivers State, Wednesday, blowing up a Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, pipeline at Eleme leading to the Nigeria Liquefied National Gas, NLNG in the state.
“As an organisation that promotes peace and abhors violence, we condemn the indiscriminate destruction and bombing of oil facilities by militant groups in the Niger-Delta”.
The group also said on Tuesday that its only account on microblogging website Twitter was under suspension and all other accounts claiming to represent the group were imposters.
Buhari, a former army general who led a military government in the 1980s, referred to his time under General Yakubu Gowon, who was in charge during the Nigerian civil war from 1967-70.
He said the Federal Government had commenced the process of identifying the number of groups involved in militancy in the region with a view to getting their leaders and appealing to them to give Nigeria a chance.
The development followed the Avengers’ attacks on five oil installations in the region last weekend. We never thought of oil. So, please pass this to the militants that one Nigeria is not negotiable and they had better accept.
I assure them of keeping to the saying by Gen. Gowon that to keep Nigeria one is a task that must be done. “Sometimes when the rhetoric gets uglier, they call for the breakup of Nigeria as a country!”
But he reiterated his determination to keep Nigeria as one, as the nation’s unity is non-negotiable. I assure them there would justice.
“And please persuade those who have plenty of money that does not belong to them to try and negotiate, return it in peace so that both them and us will be in peace, otherwise we will continue to request”.
