US police hunt for man behind vicious attacks on homeless

San Diego police are on the lookout for a man thought to be responsible for a series of gruesome attacks on homeless people, two of whom have died.

Authorities in San Diego on Tuesday sought to question a man in connection with the murders of two homeless men and the stabbing of a third over the Fourth of July weekend, which has sparked fears in the homeless community.

“We have a person out there attacking victims that were sleeping”.

The attacks on homeless people in California’s second most populous city began on Sunday when the body of a homeless man was discovered on fire between a highway and train tracks in the Mission Bay area of San Diego, police said. The location is near condos and the federal courthouse. They’re calling them a person of interest. The clothing turned out to be a person.

An estranged family member of De Nardo said she and her husband, the victim’s brother, lost contact with De Nardo when he moved away from Delaware in the late 1990s.

San Diego Fire-Rescue Department crews responded and treated the victim before transporting him to a nearby hospital.

A spokesperson for the San Diego Police told BuzzFeed News that they are preparing to release video related to the investigation. Officers found a guy severely bleeding from stab wounds about 4:50 a.m. on the 4th.

“It is extremely unsettling for the public, it is extremely unsettling for the homeless population and it is extremely unsettling for the San Diego Police Department”, Nisleit said. The unidentified man is hospitalized in critical condition.

It was unclear if the man attacked in downtown San Diego would survive injuries to his upper torso, said San Diego police Capt. David Nisleit.

An autopsy determined that De Nardo had been killed before being set ablaze, police Lt. Manny Del Toro said Tuesday.

On Monday, another man was found dead on Bacon Street in Ocean Beach.

A few hours later, police discovered the second dead body, that of a man who bled from the upper torso. He said he and others are looking for anyone who may have know him. A single person is believed to have carried out the two slayings and the wounding of the third victim, he said.
