Janssen: Tottenham are a handsome club
Tottenham have faced a few roadblocks in their pursuit of the 22-year-old hitman, with AZ rejecting their initial offer for the player last month, but the north Londoners refused to give up. That led Janssen to voice his frustration at their stance, with AZ believed to be holding out for a fee of €20m – reportedly on the advice of Moneyball author Billy Beane, who was hired as an adviser in March previous year.
Janssen, who scored 31 goals in all competitions for AZ last season, told Algemeen Dagblad: “I am happy that it is nearly a done deal now”. He is a great striker but we naturally see how it goes.
Wijnaldum has recently spoken about his future, indicating a desire to stay in the Premier League, stating; “I want to play at as high a level as possible, in the Premier League, with a beatiful club – but not everything goes the way you want”.
“I am glad that it is nearly complete”.
Janssen himself later revealed that he was looking forward to move to White Hart Lane with hopes that that his current club facilitate his departure.
“The competition appeals to me and the plan of the coach is similar to the plan that John van den Brom had for me a year ago here in AZ”.
And now Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf claim Janssen is no longer training with his club and will undergo a medical in London today as Spurs move closer to sealing their second transfer of the summer.
“Tottenham are a handsome club with a brilliant new stadium and a lot of potential”.
“We can complement each other, I think I can learn a lot from him”.
