Army: Suspect In Dallas Killings Served In Army Reserve
Johnson was eventually cornered by DPD officers during a 45-minute standoff, Dallas Police Chief David Brown said during a Friday press conference. The suspect was later identified as Johnson.
In Dallas, it said protesters actions were “cut short” when a lone gunman attack the police officers.
He said: “The suspect said he was upset about Blacklivesmatter”.
The organisation said it had sought “the end of violence” not an “escalation of it” in a full statement after earlier condemning the mass shooting last night. The suspect said he was upset at white people. The suspect stated he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.The suspect stated that he was not affiliated with any groups, and he did this alone. The law enforcement official spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity because he said he was not authorized to release the information. They added that they have not identified a connection between the suspect and any global terrorism or domestic extremist groups.
The Army says Johnson deployed to Afghanistan in November 2013 and returned in July 2014.
News 8 has learned that he served in the U.S. Army Reserve for six years, and was stationed at the Seagoville Reserve Base in North Texas at one time. A check of a commercially driver’s license listed an address for him in the Dallas suburb of Mesquite.
A search of Dallas County felony and misdemeanor courts records did not turn up any matches for Micah Johnson. Brown did not name the suspect.
