Premier is Lyft’s answer for Uber Black
This will give a competition to its rival Uber that already offers such services.
Much like Uber Black and Uber Select, Lyft Premier ferries its customers about in lavish machines like the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, and Cadillac Escalade.
Lyft announced on Wednesday a new feature that allows passengers to book rides in luxury cars – an offering that competes with Uber’s longstanding limousine service. Pricing for the new service varies based on region, but according to Business Insider, a Premier ride starts at $2.66 per mile, more than double the basic Lyft rate of $1.16 per mile. Is it expensive? It’s all relevant.
Lyft drivers are encouraged but not required to offer things like water bottles, phone chargers, and gum to riders to improve the customer experience. The ride-hailing company is also reportedly busy poaching Uber drivers into its fleet.
Naturally, such a service would also increase Lyft’s margins going forward making it look more appealing to investors or potential acquirers.
The company has begun testing this offering out in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York City, three areas that likely have a propensity for luxury, business, or sophisticated travel. This practice will be exercised by Lift to arrange large number of vehicles and drivers for its Premier services.
Uber and Lyft were pleased to learn of the legislation.
We’re assuming a “premier” fare is part of the deal.
Lyft has announced a new “Premier” option that allows customers to order a high-end auto for those times they want to make an impression.
The new service seems like Lyft’s strategy to tap into the demands of the corporate world. Premier drivers will be able to earn extra cash, as riders will pay around a premium that’s twice the regular price.
Lyft is aiming to synchronize the booking of Premier rides efficiently, the same way it did for its traditional service in May, when it came out with scheduled rides.
