Gunman in Vehicle Fires at Suburban Atlanta Police Officer
A gunman and a police officer exchanged fire in south Georgia early Friday.
The suspect has been identified as 21 year-old Victor Alonzo Majia Nunez of Riverdale.
Officials said that the officer was wearing a bullet proof vest and a body camera. Both men were wounded in the ensuing gunfire, and both are expected to survive.
The man who shot a Valdosta police officer several times was the same person who called 911 to summon authorities in the first place, investigators announced Friday. Childress declined to comment on any possible motives of the shooting.

Officer Hancock and the suspect were taken to different hospitals.
No details about the suspect or any charges were immediately released, though Frommer said the Ford Explorer had a Georgia license plate.
The shooting happened shortly before 1 a.m. ET Friday, a few hours after a sniper attack.
Officer Brian McKenzie was not injured.
Though he’s been speaking with investigators, “his cooperation has been limited”, police said in a midmorning update on the case.
