Blink-182 ‘excited’ after scoring first United Kingdom chart-topping album
Here’s some good news for fans of Blink 182 – they’ve just topped the album charts in the United Kingdom for the first time ever.
California is the USA band’s seventh studio album but the first to feature vocalist Matt Skiba, who replaced founding member Tom DeLonge previous year.
California has ended Adele’s brief return to the top of the album charts with 25, which went back up to number one following her headline performance at Glastonbury. Beyonce’s Lemonade lifts from five to four as the United Kingdom leg of her Formation tour continues, and ELO’s million-selling album All Over The World completes the Top 5.
In the singles chart, Drake continues to carve a path into the British history books.
Bat For Lashes notches up a third Top 10 album this week with The Bride, new at Number 9, and Metronomy’s Summer 08 debuts at 20, giving them a third Top 40 set.
Carole King’s rapturously-received United Kingdom performance of Tapestry (Epic/Sony) sent the classic album back into the bestsellers at No. 32, its first showing in the top 40 since January a year ago.
Drake’s single stayed at the top yet again despite being outsold by “This Girl” (3 Beat) by Kungs Vs. Cookin’ On 3 Burners, which held at No. 2 again because “One Dance” was the most-streamed track of the week, helping it stay ahead of Kungs in combined chart sales.
Rihanna and Calvin Harris are at four with This Is What You Came For, while Adele rounds off the top five with Send My Love (To Your New Lover).
