The statement said three officers are deceased, two are in surgery and three are in critical condition.
In the wake of an ambush of Dallas police officers that killed five and wounded seven July 7, military experts agree the Dallas attackers used military maneuvers to kill as many police officers as possible. The sophisticated nature of the ambush against police indicated “some level of reconnaissance”, and may have required spotters for each shooter or even scouts.
The man also claimed to be working alone and said police would eventually find IED’s in the city. Brown added that one civilian was also wounded in Thursday’s mass shooting. Dallas Police Chief Brown says, “He has told our negotiators that the end is coming and he’s going to hurt and kill more of us – meaning law enforcement – and that there are bombs all over the place in this garage and in downtown”.

Live TV video showed protesters marching along a street in downtown, about half a mile from City Hall, when the shots erupted and the crowd scattered, seeking cover. Officers crouched beside vehicles, armoured SWAT team vehicles arrived and a helicopter hovered overhead.
Nearly as soon as the first shots rang out around 9 PM local time, activists irate over the deaths of Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota, rushed to deny any part in the attack.
“Everyone just started running”, Devante Odom, 21, told The Dallas Morning News.

Speaking from Warsaw, Poland, where he was meeting with leaders of the European Union and attending a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit, the president asked all Americans to pray for the fallen officers and their families.
