Republicans not ready to give up Clinton investigation
He also said that Clinton had not authorized her lawyers to delete hundreds of emails, but said some of the discarded emails could have contained classified information.
The investigation, if it is still ongoing, is believed to focus on accusations leveled in the book ‘Clinton Cash, ‘ which painted a portrait of Mrs. Clinton as an avaricious public official who traded official favors to foreign governments and overseas companies for private benefits including seven-figure donations to the Clinton Foundation and six-figure speaking fees for former President Bill Clinton. Comey just kept making his case: The FBI could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Clinton acted with criminal intent. Clinton was secretary of the state at the time of the attacks.
The issue of Clinton’s use of private email servers has cast a cloud over her campaign leading up to the November 8 presidential election, raised questions among voters about her trustworthiness and given her Republican presidential rival, Donald Trump, an avenue of attack.
I don’t know whether your family’s watching this, but I hope that they are as proud of you as I am, because you are the epitome of what a public servant is all about.
Comey’s reply: “In connection with her use of the email server?”
Cooper said during the hearing that Clinton should not get special treatment, but she also shouldn’t get especially harsh treatment.
Clinton brushed off this characterization today, arguing the State Department may have marked material classified that shouldn’t have been marked as such.

Republicans in Congress have held 13 investigations into Benghazi and found nothing on Clinton. When agents investigate allegations of criminal wrongdoing, they look for evidence not only that a statute was violated but also that a person knew that what he was doing was wrong.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz, a Republican from Utah, asked Comey the big question: Did Clinton lie?

Even though Mills, Sullivan and Abedin no longer work at the State Department, there are a few ways they can still be punished, should an investigation find that necessary.
“I think Director Comey clarified that and certainly the State Department did”.
Comey said there was no evidence Clinton or others intentionally deleted those thousands of newly discovered work-related e-mails in an effort to hide them. Maloney apologized to Comey for asking what she termed a “ridiculous question”, about whether any bribe was offered. Comey says those emails were not intentionally deleted, but were part of files that were periodically erased or purged.
The question was not dropped, however.
