Worms in the Water
Two streets over, more jars of water with worms.
The addition is worms, KHOU reported.
“The water company is not communicating with us at all as far as any direction or what they’re doing they just told us the chlorination went out and they had an electrical problem”, Landry said.
J&S said they’ve tested their water multiple times and that the worms must come from another source such as pipes. There’s nothing coming from our pipes, ‘ said Tara Miles.
“There’s these red ones, there’s these black ones, nearly look like tad poles”, said Andrea Devault.
J and S officials say they did have a system failure a few days ago that shut the flow of water off for about 16 hours, but owners insist it was not long enough for worms to get into the water supply. “Which is the grossest?” asked KHOU 11 News Reporter Alice Barr.
Engineers flushed the system on Tuesday and the company advised customers to boil their water.
According to KHOU, about 30 residents turned up at their water utility holding evidence of worms of different colors and sizes that came out of their taps.
J and S Water Company supplies water to the town. They’re blaming some other source, like the pipes. “There’s nothing coming from our pipes”, said Miles. He says state environmental crews won’t be able to investigate until Friday.
The mayor of Old River-Winfree and residents planned to meet with water company officials but no one from the company showed up.
For now, neighbors plan to do their washing somewhere else and keep their eyes out for any slimy intruders.
