Wyoming teenager finds body while playing popular new Pokemon game
Shayla Wiggins was hoping to catch a water Pokemon – but instead, her smartphone game led her to make a grisly discovery: a dead body floating in a river near her USA home. Though the recent news about Shayla Wiggins finding a dead body might be disturbing, it seems like nothing will hinder Pokemon Go’s way.
“Since it’s virtual reality, I thought: that’s cool”, she said.
Ms Wiggins is reported to have then called 911 and waited for police to arrive. Otherwise, it feels like it’s just a matter of time before a Pokemon GO player is hurt while playing the game.
“It’s heartbreaking that I’m getting famous and he’s unknown”, she said, expressing sympathy for the dead man’s family and friends. So, she walked down to the rocky river bank.
Kotaku can not confirm whether or not Wiggins captured the water Pokémon she was originally looking for.
“I didn’t know what to do”, Wiggins said.
Wiggins reportedly jumped a fence to head to the river.
It’s likely someone would have found the body had Wiggins not been searching for pokémon around 8:30AM.
The app actually sends people out into whatever location they are at and places Pokemon somewhere nearby in the real world.
Stay safe and vigilant out there while playing Pokemon GO. They didn’t release any information detailing exactly why they believe the death was accidental, but that’s all the info on the body so far.
