Commercial from 2010 Predicted Dwyane Wade Would Become a Chicago Bull
Dwyane Wade addressed reporters at his youth camp in South Florida on Saturday morning, and the Miami Heat legend reflected on his hard decision to bolt for the Chicago Bulls following a reportedly acrimonious negotiating period with the team that drafted him in 2003.
The Heat ran a full page ad in local South Florida papers with the photo of Wade and the caption: “We’ll leave a key under the mat for you”.
“Thank you for taking care of my family and my team over the years”, Wade wrote in the staff letter.
Wade had additionally developed a nice repertoire of old man moves with his declining athleticism that would make any YMCA-lifer jealous, while also miraculously knocking down more than 50% of his three-pointers during last season’s playoffs in the process.
“To go home and play with Chicago is something I’ve always dreamed of since I’ve been a little bitty kid”, Wade said.
In the end, it did not work for the Heat, and now the fans will see Wade don a new jersey for the first time in 13 years. “I look back with pride and amazement at all we have accomplished together”. Wade followed his heart to Chicago, and now Riley and the rest of the Heat front office will have to replace a player who means so much to the fans.
“It’s going to be a lot of stuff said about me and Pat”.
Also, in what seems coincidental, the Li-Ning shoe line that bears Wade’s name released a new two-pair pack Wednesday.
Miami offered just over $40 million for two years with hopes he stayed.
Wade is looking for a three-year contract, according to a report in May by the Miami Herald.
By nightfall, Miami and Chicago were linked again in Wade’s world, and no one was thinking about sneaker colors.
Wade is Miami’s career leader in games, minutes, field goals, field goal attempts, free throws, free throw attempts, assists, steals and points.
Haslem’s legendary locker room speeches ignited the Heat to respond at times during many games last season. He’s even second in blocked shots, perhaps the most impressive stat of all considering Wade is listed at 6-foot-4 – which is generous, probably by about an inch. First of all, I love Pat. Wade recently addressed the status of his relationship with former Miami coach and current team president Pat Riley, whom never called Wade as his agent and the Heat’s brass went back and forth. Wade is the most important player in Heat franchise history. “I expected him to return to Miami”, Thomas told the CBS affiliate.
