Kiersey Clemons, Rita Ora vie for lead role in ‘The Flash’
The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit says that singer Rita Ora and Lucy Boynton are also being considered for the role.
Warner Bros. Pictures and director Rick Famuyiwa are apparently close to finding the female lead for “The Flash” movie. Actress Kiersey Clemons, who starred in the director’s well-received dramedy Dope, is reportedly at the top of his list.
It’s unknown on who the female lead for the project will be, but Variety insiders suggest the female lead will be Iris West, the journalist and friend of Barry Allen. Who would be the ideal Iris West? She has appeared on series’ such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Transparent, New Girl and Extant, and co-starred in the sequel Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, the follow-up to the film Neighbors.
Famuyiwa will direct the script written by Seth Grahame-Smith (Pride and Prejudice), based on a treatment by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. There’s been no confirmation from Warner Bros on that front, but with production starting sometime this year (still on time, no less), it’s likely we’ll see some more official casting news very soon.
It’s further said Kiersey Clemons will have a cameo role in the Justice League movie prior to her full appearance in The Flash. Clemons has also booked a role in the 2017 remake of the 1990 death-teasing drama Flatliners alongside Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev and even the returning original film star Kiefer Sutherland.
