Dell increases prices in the United Kingdom by 10% following Brexit
As already mentioned, the OnePlus 3 will become more expensive in the United Kingdom due to Brexit, OnePlus had already confirmed this.
The channel across the continent may need to brace itself for another swathe of price rises as the dollar shows strength against European currencies in light of the UK’s vote to leave the EU.
Optimistically speaking, OnePlus gave customers a warning and those who are planning on buying the product can still have it for the original price of 309, until July 11. Anyhow, we’ve already reviewed this device, in case you’d like to know more about it, but it sure is quite a compelling offering for $399, not only do you get premium specifications and build quality, but you also get an nearly stock version of Android with some features from OnePlus, a great camera and an ultra fast fingerprint scanner.
Announced through its official forums, OnePlus says that the £20 increase from the original price of the OnePlus 3 comes due to the Brexit decision that already impacted the United Kingdom and European stock markets. With the PC and smartphone sectors upping RRPs, a shift in console hardware and software prices is looking increasingly likely.
Given the effects of the unstable markets, companies are eager to prevent their margins from thinning, but in order to do that, they must make changes to their pricing structures. As most of you probably already know, 52% of voters from the United Kingdom voted for leaving the European Union, which basically caused mayhem online. The fall in value for the pound will probably lead to price increases in other sectors of the economy too, and it may prove to be a boomerang for politicians. For one thing, financial markets are in turmoil over the uncertainty of what the exit will mean for both the United Kingdom and the world economy, and the British pound has been pummeled, reaching a 31 year low. The silver lining is that prices for smartphone accessories and older OnePlus models will not undergo any switcheroos. Or is this just an isolated case of the price increase? Well, such accusations do seem exaggerated, but… we’ll never know. The big selling point, however, is the low price. So, as of 11 July, OnePlus said its phone will cost £20 more for Brits.
The voting process took place about two weeks ago and with nothing barely known with regards to what exactly are the impacts of Brexit, questions, speculations, and concerns are what dominate the tech world.
