The 9News Investigators learned from a source that Officer Blane Salamoni, a four-year veteran of the force, was the only officer to fire during the shooting, according to a preliminary investigation by Baton Rouge police. Some drivers even stopped by with bottles of water for the protesters.

One of the men killed by a white police officer was Alton Sterling, killed in Baton Rouge, in the southern state of Louisiana, where protests are intensifying.

Newport, Rhode Island: More than 150 people gathered in downtown Newport to listen to Black Lives Matter speakers.

“We actually started demobilizing officers and… arranging for some officers to be in the area just to keep an eye on things”, Rochester Police Chief Michael Ciminelli said Saturday. An officer can be heard warning demonstrators that they’ll be arrested if they step into the road.

Some protesters headed for more demonstrations at the Baton Rouge Police Department, where overnight protests led to 30 arrests.

“It is symbolic we marched from city hall to the state capital, because this is where our leaders will work to change the laws we need”.

Lael Montgomery from Baton Rouge said the black community is demanding an end to police brutality.
