‘Outlander’ EP teases some juicy Seasons 3 and 4 details
Brianna is the daughter of Claire and Jamie Fraser.
The “Outlander” Season 2 finale, titled “Dragonfly In Amber”, aired on Saturday night, and it was an epic finale.
The 90-minute episode concluded with Claire saying they must go back through the stones, to the 18th century, to find Jamie. Outlander will return for season 3 in 2017. Her relationship with Brianna is strained at best due to the wall that Claire has built around her heart.
Given the fact that Claire returned to her own time and none of the Highlander men had the ability to time travel, this mystery character has to be Geillis Duncan. It gives Brianna the chills, with good reason, unbeknownst to her. Brianna asked Roger about her father.
The introduction of Brianna and Roger Wakefield as adults means a lot for the seasons to come, as does the outcome of the Battle of Culloden Moor.
Will Claire and Jamie ever see each other again? Soon, Dougal and Jamie are fighting…to the death!
Dugal (Graham McTavish) wants to kill Claire claiming she’s bewitched Jamie.
Jumping back to the past…Claire has indeed convinced Jamie that they should kill the Prince. Below, Graphia outlines concern in the writers room about how to script Claire’s moment with her daughter – “there was debate about whether mother or daughter should be the one to talk about going back”, she explains. He had a deed transfer drafted for Lallybroch-dated before Jamie was branded a traitor, so the legality wasn’t an issue-and tasked Fergus with delivering it to his sister Jenny. “This battle is already lost”, he says. She fights it, of course, but knowing Jamie will likely die in battle, she has no choice but to accept her fate. I don’t know how realistic her appearance is for a 50 year-old, but she does look like she’s aged.
“He survived, he survived”, she says, turning to look at the stones. “God I loved her well”.
But before they hit the ocean, Claire and Jamie must first be reunited. There are speculations that Brianna and Roger will play important roles in the next season, but it remains to be seen if there will be major changes in their respective roles. It only makes sense that the finale would fit that description as well. Claire stayed married to Frank for two decades. But it’s enough for Bree to believe her mother.
Meanwhile, Bri and her new bestie, Roger, head off to the university.
Earlier in the episode, Claire visits a museum where she beholds a wax sculpture of Charles Stuart.
Jamie then tells Murtaugh to take the Lallybroch Frasers away and lead them to safety.
Desperate for more Outlander goodness in your life? They’re like first cousins seventeen times removed or something. But before Claire got too far into the story, she stumbled upon a way to prove the whole time traveling through a stone business. Anyway, she’s here and her name is Gillian Edgars.
Even viewers who have avoided spoilers could tell that the Geillis plot line didn’t end with her being carried out to the pyre, thanks in large part to a great breadcrumb trail set by Moore.
Claire, Roger, and the still disbelieving Brianna headed to Craigh Na Dun thinking they could at least warn Gillian/Geillis. Jamie and Claire – their extraordinary love – is the core of the books and the Starz series, which has been picked up for two more seasons. “From now on I only want the truth”. And having read the books, I know we’re just getting started on all that genealogy.
