Hundreds gather in Boston after police shootings

Black Lives Matter is the movement that arose after the fatal police shooting of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, and garnered greater attention for its protests of the police shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, on August 9, 2014, and supporters have renewed their nationwide protests in recent days.

“There’s too much violence in the black community”.

Police Chief Michael Ciminelli said in a news conference Saturday that the department could not respond to nonemergency calls during the protest because they needed to maintain a large police presence during the demonstration. After about two hours, they sat down in Union Square park. That’s where Catherine Elizabeth of Cincinnati was. I really want an honest space for us to all address our role in the destruction of the entire planet and our hidden presumptions about people based on their race/identity’.

Black Lives Matter condemned the Dallas attack, calling it a tragedy not just for those affected but also for the nation. My skin, every time I walk into a room, I am stared at and looked at, maybe by two people, maybe by five, maybe by the whole room.

Another woman from Youngstown came specifically for the rally.

She said the Vancouver rally is about reminding Canadians about past wrongs. Many said their deaths were senseless and unjust.

“I think it was lovely”, protester Georgina Martell said. That group watched from the other side of the street as Claiborne was joined by Onslow County Commissioner Million Heir-Williams as they addressed the crowd. He’s optimistic events like this can make a difference.

“We respect people’s right to peacefully protest, and that’s what we had today”. Doing it how it’s supposed to be done.

POLICE arrested scores of people in demonstrations over the weekend in several USA cities, as racial tensions simmer over the killing of black men by police.

The demonstration, the fourth in the city in as many days, comes on the heels of the police shooting deaths of Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota, and the attack on police in Dallas that killed five officers and injured several more.

A Met police spokeswoman said: “At 19:25hrs on Saturday, 9 July, a man believed to be a passenger disembarked from a bus in Brixton Road and became involved in an altercation with a number of demonstrators”.
