Jarrett Jack to Hawks
According to Shams Charania of The Vertical of Yahoo!
The Atlanta Hawks and point guard Jarrett Jack have agreed on a one-year contract for next season.
Hawks’ Dennis Schroder shoots over Nets’ Jarrett Jack during the second half in a basketball game on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 in Atlanta. The veteran point guard will return to Atlanta where he starred at Georgia Tech and was a part of the Yellow Jackets’ runner-up finish in the 2004 NCAA Championship.
The Hawks were in need of another point guard position after they traded Jeff Teague to the Indiana Pacers in a deal that gave them the No. 12 pick in this year’s draft in which they used to get Taurean Prince.
Jack played in 112 games over two seasons with Brooklyn, averaging 12.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 29.2 minutes per game. Brooklyn waived Jack on June 30th, 2016 and he became an unrestricted free agent.
For Atlanta, this is a low-risk move that could solidify coach Mike Budenholzer’s rotation.
For a veteran’s minimum even coming off an ACL tear, this seems like a bargain for the Hawks who would be getting another serviceable point guard to backup Schroder in Atlanta.
The former Georgia Tech product will play for his eighth team.
