Warriors star Draymond Green faces misdemeanor assault claim
Warriors forward Draymond Green was arrested on an assault charge in East Lansing, Michigan, on Sunday after he allegedly slapped a Michigan State football player, according to sources.
Green was in the Bay Area as recently as Thursday for the introductory press conference of Kevin Durant.
Details of the 26 year old’s arrest aren’t immediately available, and the local police department elected against naming Green as the specific perpetrator. “My legal team is handling it. It will be resolved really quickly. It’s something that I’ll learn from and just move on”. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, July 10, 2016, in the city where Green played for Michigan State from 2008-12. “He added: “‘Completely’ should be capitalized” before declining further comment.
On Tuesday, an East Lansing District Court Judge approved a request for waiver of arraignment filed by Heos.
USA Basketball released a similarly worded statement, as Green is a member of the U.S. Olympic team that will compete next month in Rio de Janeiro. A pretrial hearing will then be scheduled, at which it will determined if there is a “resolution to the case”, according to East Lansing City Attorney Thomas Yeadon.
The team begins training in Las Vegas on July 18, with an exhibition game to be played there July 22 against Argentina.
