Atlanta Hawks welcome Dwight Howard to hometown
Dwight Howard and Kent Bazemore were home, Howard returning to while Bazemore remained in the city of Atlanta.
“I can’t say enough how good the timing feels”, Atlanta Hawks Coach Mike Budenholzer said about having the having the 8-time All-Star on his team.
And it wasn’t fans or Howard that forced that, it was “from a financial standpoint”, Horford said. D-12 should have a larger role in the Hawks’ offense, but as always, atrocious free throw shooting will weigh down his value.
When Horford signed the $113 million deal with the Celtics, his father, Tito, made a statement back in Atlanta.
Despite what his father says and his reported dislike of Howard, Horford actually thinks the opposite. If fans and Howard were not the reasons, then what? I’ve never been that way my whole life. “. I want to change from where I was at in my career and try to make the latter part of my career greater than the first part”.
His parents and older sister sat front and center and when Howard stared at them and began to acknowledge that this was the homecoming, the fresh start he’s been searching for, he teared up and struggled to get the words out. And I have friends and there is a time for all of that. “I think that he is a great player and he has a lot of ability and a lot of potential. I’m happy to share that with my loved ones”. “To see the progress they’ve made over the years is what I’m all about”. This is really a new beginning for me. “But I wish him nothing but the best”, the newly signed Hawks center said on ESPN.
Regarding his relationship with Harden, Howard said: “Well I just think that we both wanted to win and we didn’t ever have an opportunity to do it like we needed to together”. I hope that he continues to play at a very high level. It has nothing to do with not wanting to play with Dwight. “He don’t want to say my dad told me to do this”. We may have didn’t work in Houston, but I just hope that he succeeds.
“It was extremely hard (to leave) but at the end looking at the future of the team and having an opportunity to win in a different scenario for me”, Horford told the AJC. “I really just want to leave all that stuff behind me and I know people want to talk about it and why this and why that, but everybody’s had a past”.
“I don’t have a problem with Dwight at all”.
