Pokemon GO Worldwide Release Halted Due to Server Issues
Niantic Labs, the Pokemon GO developer has temporarily suspended the global rollout of the game owing to the peak traffic on its game servers that are unable to cope up with the rising user-demand for the new augmented-reality game.
Those behind the game said that they were aware of the problems, which were as a result of the “incredible number of Pokemon Go downloads”.
“People in the United Kingdom need to stop playing and adding to the server problems”, a user posted on aussieoutages.com on Tuesday.
While it is not confirmed if that is the case, the aussieoutages site is carrying numerous messages reporting server issues – to the distress of some players.
“Having no service for pokemon go is stressing me out”, @EzmaeS said.
There has been a lot of excitement surrounding Pokemon Go since its announcement previous year but unfortunately, the app launch has been marred by server issues due to sheer demand. Worst birthday present ever, ‘ @taylor_jacob said.
Reports peaked at 489 about 9am on Tuesday. (People have already run into unfortunate, if not freakish situations while playing the game.) It doesn’t stop at the free app, however-as announced when the game was revealed, “Pokemon Go” can be played with a wearable peripheral called the “Pokemon Go” Plus. Please come back later’.
Pokemon Go is proving to be “enormously” popular since Niantic opened access on July 6 in the US.
“On average, users are spending twice the amount of time engaged with Pokemon Go than they are on apps like Snapchat”.
The objective is to earn points and win virtual lollies and stardust by capturing “wild” Pokemon that appear at random as the user moves about, or lures them with incense.
But that method of getting hold of the game early has not been publically endorsed by creators Niantic and Nintendo.
