Ab Fab filming begins this autumn
Joanna Lumley will start shooting the “Absolutely Fabulous” film in October, teasing it will be filmed in the south of France.
“We are all there, the same old gang”, Patsy Lumley told the UK’s This Morning.
“It’s going to be ravishingly amusing. Very gorgeous… and completely fabulous!”
Fresh from her Trans-Siberian Adventures, which she’s called “the journey of a lifetime”, she is gearing up to film for the much anticipated Absolutely Fabulous comeback.
Describing herself as the “worst procrastinator in the world”, Saunders admitted that she was “really nervous” about Ab Fab failing to make the leap to the big-screen intact.
Earlier this year, Saunders said: “All the main characters and virtually everyone that’s ever been in the series” will be in the film.
Asked if her co-star had completed the script, she said: ‘She has written it. It would be wrong to say I’ve completely read it, because I think it’s been changing.
Our original story from the start of January is here…
The programme was first broadcast in 1992 and ran for three series and a two-part special until 1996. Look, of course I flew to China (to film a recent TV project).
The AbFab creator credited Lumley with encouraging her to get the script done. “I’m feeling euphoric. My proper New Year’s resolution is to do the film, otherwise it’ll be a pointless year of procrastination”.
Joanna, 69, will reprise her role as Patsy Stone, the hard-drinking magazine editor and best friend of PR agent Edina Monsoon, who is played by Jennifer Saunders.
The movie is now going by the name of Edina and Patsy, and assuming it finally goes ahead, both June Whitfield and Julia Sawalha would also return.
